
UWM Cross Country Heads To Great Lakes Regional Individual Results in PDF Format MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Nov. 7, 2006) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's cross country teams head to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Saturday, Nov. 11, in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Panthers will look to qualify as a team or individually at the meet for the NCAA Championships later this month. UWM is familiar with the course, running at the Falcon Invitational last month. The men took fourth place among 13 teams, while the women were fifth in a 19-team field. Last time out, the Panther women placed third and the men fourth at the Horizon League Championships. A school-record three UWM women earned all-league honors to lead the team to its fourth-straight third-place showing. Sophomore Holly Nearman led the way on the league's first team, taking seventh. Junior Angie Huebner, a first-team honoree in 2005, and senior Kourtney Nault finished together in 12th and 13th to earn spots on the second team. Junior Nick Haley paced Milwaukee's men, who were fourth for the seventh time in eight years. Hawley took 10th and was named to the all-league second team. The Panthers are coming off one of their best seasons at the regionals in 2005. The men took 14th at the regional meet, tying the second-best regional finish in team history. The women tied their fifth-best regional finish by taking 18th. Huebner returns to the regionals after taking 64th last season, which was tied Milwaukee's 11th-best individual women's showing. For the men, departed seniors Nate Weiland and Josh Nygren each posted top-10 finishes in school history. Runners can qualify for the NCAA Championships as a team or individually. A set number of teams from each region get automatic bids, while others can receive at-large bids. Individually, some of the top finishers from teams that do not qualify can also earn automatic bids.
