
Plans Set For Panther MadnessOct. 4, 2007 MILWAUKEE - Basketball season is almost here and the plans for Panther Madness are set. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's basketball teams will make their 2007-08 season debut at Panther Madness Fri., Oct. 12 at the Klotsche Center. The Panthers will take the floor following a full night of activities that gets underway at 7 p.m. The evening's festivities begin at 7 p.m. as the UWM volleyball team takes the floor against rival Loyola. Immediately following the volleyball match, The Boogie Men will take the stage for a special concert. Then, at approximately 10 p.m., the Panther men and women will be introduced to the crowd and take the floor for brief scrimmages and a dunk contest. All fans are admitted free to the event and all students in attendance will have the opportunity to sign up for the Panther Pack, UWM's new student-fan organization. Those signing up will receive a membership card and a free t-shirt, with the opportunity to earn discounts and prizes throughout the season. Expectations for both the Panther men and women are growing for the 2007-08 season. The Panther men return four of five starters and more than 80 percent of their scoring from a season ago. Meanwhile, the women have three starters back, highlighted by two-time All-Horizon League performer Traci Edwards. |
