Majors, Havener Highlight UWM Track Action

Nine Panthers competed at Indiana Relays this weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Feb. 3, 2007) - Senior Jeremy Majors won the men's 800m and freshmen Erin Havener cleared 12-4 1/2 in the women's pole vault in representing the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams at the Indiana Relays this weekend in Bloomington, Ind.

Majors, one of six Panther men at the meet, won the 800m invitational on Friday, crossing the line in 1:50.46. The time was a personal-best and moved Majors up to third in school history in the event. Saturday, Havener tied for fourth at the meet and cleared the second-best height in school history. She reset her PR by 8 3/4 inches.

Freshman Quinn Mongoven tied for second in the high jump Friday, clearing 6-7.

Also on Saturday, senior Trentin Edwards took sixth in the 200m and freshman Isaiah Adams placed sixth in the finals of 400m. In the 200m, Edwards ran a time of 22.21 on Saturday after a 22.16 time on Friday in the preliminaries. Freshman Tyler Bucholz also competed in the prelims, taking 17th, and running a time of 22.37, fourth-best in school history.

Adams, who ran a time of 49.85 in the 400m prelims Friday, crossed the line Saturday in 49.28. His prelims time puts him fourth in school history. Sophomore Adam Schleis also competed Saturday, placing 15th in the semifinals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.32 after qualifying Friday.

Sophomore Jenni Saarinen and freshman Kelsey Conrad also competed on the weekend, both on Friday. Saarinen was 18th in the long jump with a leap of 17-3 1/2 and 29th in the 60m hurdles in 9.31. Conrad ran in the 400m, taking 25th in 1:00.12.

Milwaukee returns to action Feb. 9-10 at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic.
