Madsen Joins Milwaukee Women's Soccer Staff7/29/2010 - David Madsen, formerly the head men's and women's soccer coach at Lakeland College, has been hired as an assistant women's soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, head coach Michael Moynihan announced today. Madsen comes to Milwaukee from nearby Sheboygan, Wis., where he had guided the Muskies' men's and women's programs since 2006. He joins the staff with Moynihan and associate head coach David Nikolic. In 2008, Madsen led the Muskie men to their first winning season since 1994. Lakeland went 8-7-2 that year and set the school record for goals in a season. Read Full Release 7/29/2010 - M. Soccer Saavedra Selected For U.S. U-20 Men's National Team Camp
Gerardo Saavedra, an incoming freshman who will join the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team this fall, was selected to participate in the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team Camp. The domestic training camp took place in San Jose, Calif. from June 27-July 5, with a total of 24 players representing the youth, college and professional ranks. Saavedra's squad took on the San Jose Earthquakes twice during the camp and also played against two local clubs. Read Full Release 7/27/2010 - General Release UWM Places 96 Student-Athletes On League Honor Roll
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee landed 96 student-athletes on the 2010 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced today. The 96 honorees were the second-most in the league to Butler's 116, but BU does offer four more league varsity sports than UWM. UWM's women's track and field team led the way with 16 student-athletes on the honor roll, while the men's swimming and diving team had 13 honorees. All of Milwaukee's varsity sports were represented on the honor roll. The department continues to excel academically, as during the spring 2010 semester, student-athletes earned a 3.113 grade-point average. Read Full Release |
